What Are Celebs Stockpiling?
By Declan McCullagh
February 23, 1999

Leave it to USA Weekend magazine to tackle Y2K... and find absolutely nothing interesting to say about it.

Check out this Sunday's issue -- you can't miss it, with that bodice-baring photo of Shania Twain splashed across the cover.

Turn to the Cultural Jet Lag cartoon, which asks: "What are celebrities stockpiling for the Y2K Crisis?"

The hardly imaginative -- or interesting -- answers:

* Pamela Anderson and Cher are stockpiling silicone.

* Michael Jordan is stockpiling golf balls.

* Martha Stewart is stockpiling everything in a decorative arrangement that is both aesthetically pleasing as well as edible.

* Dick Clark is stockpiling Grecian Formula.

* Saddam Hussein -- who knows? We've been trying to find out for years!
